the code for the JEM-X Instrument Specific Software (ISSW), can share their
thoughts, ideas, progress, triumphs and failures. To get your code/emails/notes

INSTRUMENT MODEL

The Instrument Model Group JMXi-IMOD-GRP is a group of instrument model
data structures for each of the two JEM-X instruments. It contains the following
data structures:

During the mission, the contents of these data structures will be carefully
controlled by the instrument team, consequently there are no overrride DOL
parameter names for the data structures describing the instrument. The best
current description of the instrument and its behaviour will always be provided
by the instrument team via the instrument model group.

Currently the child data structures only contain dummy test data, much of it
null data, for developement purposes.

If users believe there is an error in any of the instrument model group data,
a POLITE email should be sent to

ONBOARD DATA PROCESSING

The event processing onboard the JEM-X instrument is split between the Digital Front End Electronics (DFEE) which is programmed in assembler by Ib Lundgaard Rasmussen, and the Data Processing Electronics (DPE) which is programmed in ADA by Grzegorz Juchinowski. The DFEE takes the various signals produced by the detector and turns them into events (rejecting those that are particles as much as possible). The DPE packages the events into telemetry with the format depending on the current data-taking mode of the instrument.
