Subject: JEM-X Monday Meeting 2005-11-28 Hi, This time the meeting minutes are followed by the minutes from the extra meeting last Wednesday 2005-11-28 Present: JC, NL, NJW JEM-X status (NL): OK, some but not much hotspot activity. Spectral extraction status (NL): The name of the new component is j_src_properties. Outputting of the PIF is a requested functionality. Mosaic testing (JC): 3C273, SN1006 used for testing purposes. Also Galactic center is used. 5-10 and 10-20 keV energy bands. Source finding in mosaic images, 'sextract' will be tried. Agenda for SDAST meeting: News from ISDC, ESAC Science results ADD work (JC has taken over from CAO) SVR work (NJW) JEMX observer's manual JEMX user's manual Source property extraction Mosaicking and source finding Soldi standard test (AN participation?) Person power Presence at ISDC Alignment and source position (catalog) The ARF related to efficiency as a function of gain NOB /NJW 2005-11-23 Present: SB, JC, CAO, NL, NJW Revolutions with gain smoothing problems (CAO): 275 (charge depression, high background) 332 (gain depression of just one FRSS source, due to hot spot activity? or rather sick anode) Perhaps we must monitor the line position ratios between the calibration source. This can be added to j_cor_gain. And it should operate on the smoothed values in order not to be affected by the noise. New template to extension to jemxi_aca_frss_index.fits with IT approved gain history. CAO will send out an email with her proposal edited with the results of the discussion. Gain changes across the detector and the ARF (NJW): Such changes have little effect (lower than 3% below 5 keV and yet smaller above) and the calculated ARF used for fitting gives no real change for the Crab spectra for revol. 170 (JMX1) when the off axis angle >= 4 deg. /NJW ---------- Niels J.
