Summary of DSRI JEM-X Meeting, Monday 15th march 2004 Those present: Niels Lund, Jerome Chenevez, Carl Budtz-Jørgensen, Carol Anne Oxborrow, Ib Lundgaard Rasmussen, Soeren Brandt, 3 highschool trainees 1) Status of the two JEM-X Instruments Everything seems fine. New commands to change certain parameters on JEM-X1 worked well. Upper cutoff raised so now we have a clear Xe peak, and energy resolution better than we've been used to for JEM-X2. JEM-X2 patching delayed until just before its next activation. 2) Crab Calibration CBJ still working on Rev.43 results, has found that the scewing of the collimator pints in different directions for the two units, so JEM-X is effectively crosseyed. Effect is `large', about 10 arc minutes. Pretty certain to be a hardware problem since the effect is in opposite directions for the two units. Matching scewness in both units could have indicated a software problem. JC has tried to do the anode SPAG calibration for the new Crab calibration, but observations are too short and statistics too poor. JEM-X1 has total of 32 unstable anodes, and of which 16 are dead: number hasn't changed any during switch off period, so presumably it's the HV that kills 'em. JEM-X2 has 18 unstable anodes plus another 28 are dead (it's a tough life in space!) 3) Coordination Meeting Actions Only ones of these left are to do with updating response matrix, which involves NJW, and he isn't here today. CAO to update configuration page: Rev. 172, PID 91 is start of new high energy cutoff (i.e. middle of a revolution) Victor is unhappy about the response matrix he's currently using for OSA. He should talk to NJW about this. Unfortunately, NJW is rather overloaded with both imaging software and response matrix to deal with. Consensus was that getting the response done was most important. 4) Midisky NL has collected together all `private' DSRI analysis software and put it server for anonymous ftp: ftp.dsri.dk cd pub/jemx/midisky file is called midi_distribution_1.tar.gz NL would like user feedback, though programs are NOT ISDC compatible yet. Many extra FITS keywords are not in place. JC's mosaicking program can also be obtained by anonymous ftp: cd pub/jemx/Mosaic_weight.tar.gz CAO 16/3/04
