JEM-X MONDAY MEETING #57: 17/5/2005 SUMMARY Instrument Status: Everything running okay. IREM crashed in rev. 314 but JEM-X no longer dependant on it. GRS 1915 caused an automatic switch off due to high count rate. Varying radiation belt countrates suggest solar wind is extending radiaiton belts upward/outward at the moment. GRS 1915: QPOs (Quasi-Periodic Oscillations) observed with patterns that last for a while and then are replaced by another pattern. GRBs : GRB 050502 also seen by SWIFT and positions agree with JEM-X to within half arcmin. Weaker of the two GRBs, 050504 also seen by SWIFT and XRT with positions within 1 pixel of JEM-X's. These were short bursts of about 30 msec. OSA status: Crash on j_ima_iros being debugged by Jake at ISDC. j_ima_iros 1.3.1 just delivered. No ISDC testing of JC's mosaicking component yet, so no bugs found. CAO still working on Xe gain aging factors. RW still opposed to delivery of j_cor_gain that produces dynamic detector maps. Crab calibrations: NL working on shadowgrams of 19 SCWs from the fine dithering. Can clearly see collimator modulation using folding. Amplifier positions also produce periodic position disturbances. PSF of event position clearly depends on whether event is detected by one amplifier, equally by two amplifiers or partially by two amplifiers. Leads to periodic variations in position and energy resolution. Collimator modulation produces flux modulation between 40 cts and 65 cts. NJW not completed instrumental calibrations using SL's spectral extraction. Most results agree with previous analyses except for last two calibrations where we get more flux through at lower energies due to less restrictive rejection criteria. Nyborg Meeting: SB, NL and JC all signed up.
