JEM-X MONDAY MEETING #54: 26/4/2005 SUMMARY Instrument status: CBJ has found a long strip-shaped hotspot on JEM-X1 (JEM-X2 is switched off), just to right of centre at x=136, rev. 308, pid=15. Like two hotspots connected by a bridge. This is due to y-position uncertainty produced by analysing hotspot signals instead of real events. OSA 5.0: NJW has delivered j_ima_iros 1.2.0 to ISDC but still has the occasional segmentation error. JC has deliver j_ima_mosaic 5.1. Silvia tested her new scripts with rev. 116, and found 8 sources where basic recon has only found 1. Six have been identified, though others are marginal with detsig<12, though they COULD be new sources. This is a big success for j_ima_iros. Stefan has delivered OSA 5.0 versions of source extraction. ISDC rotation: NL would rather stay at DNSC until iros is finished. JC will got to ISDC May 9th. GX 3+1: JC studying burst from 31/8/04, using JEM-X1. Temperature falls as object radius increases during burst. Just before burst is brief shrink down to 2.5 km, and increases to 8 km during burst. So it's a relatively small neutron star about 5 kParsecs away. NL thinks radius calculations are out by a factor of 2. JC doing spectral analysis with XSPEC, but has too few events for good results.
