Subject: JEMX Monday Meeting 2005-01-24 Present: SB, CAO, JC, CBJ, NL, ILR, NJW JEMX status: The week from 2005-01-16 to 2005-01-23 was dominated by high particle background resulting in switched-off instrument. Situation seems to return to more or less normal. JC: New dead anode (in JMX-1) at position 212 as of 2004-12-17 ISDC visit, CAO: Roland Walter mosaicking requires smaller pixels, better positions (CRPIX keywords) and immediate reading of flux. This should be fixed. Piotr Lubinski has found feature around 5 keV in REV 239 Crab spectra. Has this to do rejection criteria being a function of electronic signal? We must look into that. Stefan Larsson is down-grading his involvement in JEMX so the source extraction must be taken over by somebody else in the course of 2005. New misalignment matrix should be constructed. This is a JEMX team responsibility. JEMX should be represented at ISDC at least at a level of ~1 week per month. CAO has a list a ideas for SB's web page about JEMX for ISDC operators. Bruce O'Neel has made a comparison between revision 1 and revision 2 data. In the latter there are some entries in the gain history table missing, but the smoothing function of the gain correction software irons this out. ISWT, NL: The question of running both instruments came up. For strong sources this could be a disadvantage because the TM allocation will not be increased. The detection of weak sources will be improved. We have to make a technical note to evaluate the situation, also with respect to the anticipated life time of INTEGRAL. ISDC Consortium, NL: Peter Kretschmar will be the JEM-X representative at ISOC. At a limited level he can also help out on JEM-X issues when visiting ISDC. Bruce O'Neel will be available for assistance with the integration of j_ima_iros and j_ima_mosaic for OSA5. Stéphane Paltani has returned as head of the science analysis team. Workshop: X-ray bursts are best detected in JEM-X. IBAS should be upgraded with the JEM-X component and report about these. Pulse-phase spectroscopy seems to be too hard to do with JEM-X data. We should improve here. /NJW ---------- Niels J. Westergaard Danish National Space Center Juliane Maries Vej 30, DK 2100 Copenhagen O Phone: +45 35325705; FAX: +45 35362475
