Subject: JEMX Monday Meeting 2004-09-06 Present: NL, CAO, ILR, SB, CBJ, NJW Status of JEMX: Temperature development: JMX1 detector has dropped by 4.0 deg, the detector box by 4.6 deg. JMX2 DFEE box has dropped 22 deg (from about 15 degC to -7degC) Gain drop of about 4% Energy resolution continues its usual degradation; no jump observed when temperature was lowered. OSA4 is installed on swarm1 Linux PC - NL will use it for making a list of all midisky_b9 sources for all survey data Crab calibration: We may get some extra TM packets from SPI and OMC. OMC does not need to be operative all the time. Latest countrate data: Unusual light curve of detector counts in the latest revolution - GRS1915 activity ? - to be investigated further. Pixel sizes and collimator footprint: No clear correlation between background counts and pixel size as derived from pixel-lower-left-corner-position table. CBJ: This could be due to the very nature of the background counts - would be better to check with real photon events, but how? Midisky/JEMXIROS. Now auxiliary arrays will be generated if not already present. This reduces the number of programs in the package. GX3+1 long X-ray burst: ATEL#327 has been sent out. Seems to fall between superbursts and long bursts. We need to do some time resolved spectral fitting. SGR1806-20: TOO in rev. 225. About 10 bursts, most of them show agreement between JEMX and IBAS results wrt. localization. We are missing some IPF data for that revolution, but JC will organize a replay in ISDC to get them. The instrument is not suited for such observations with very short spikes of very high count rates. Due to the 5-buffer we miss the detailed light curve because JEMX goes into saturation. It was discussed if it would be possible by some re-programming of onboard software to come around that. No solution was found but thinking continues. SN1006: A poster showing positive JEMX detections will be presented at the AAS HEAD meeting /NJW ---------- Niels J.
