Subject: JEM-X Monday Meeting 2007-05-14 Date: Mon, 14 May 2007 14:59:10 +0200 (MEST) Participants: NL, SB, JC, CAO, NJW. JEM-X status (SB): As usual. Some hotspot activity. One hotspot with rates up to 250 cts/s in very short periods. Used old Crab calibration data to investigate the pulse height as a function of VC voltage. The pulseheight went up by 5% with the higher VC setting. JMX2 gain calibration in the latest Crab calibration went wrong because the calibration counts were included in the science data. A separate gain calibration IC file will be produced and it must be used when analyzing JMX2 data. Analysis problems (JC): Galactic center observation in revolution 557. The production of a detector light curve went wrong from PID 37 thru 64. The executables reacted as if restricted imaging data were present. No commanding of this had been done so there is no obvious reason for this 'autonomous' behaviour. JC looked in the original data with the event list. He found three extra files e.g. jmx1_prp_events_tmp.fits.gz. No clues why this is so. If the handling of the science window groups somehow stopped in the middle a thing like this could happen, we think. CAO will look into this. Mission Extended Operations Review (SB): The report must be submitted to the review board by the 16th of May. There are funds to extend both XMM and INTEGRAL through 2012. The raise of perigee seems to be cancelled since the effect is so small and the radiation level is not critical. ISDC Consortium meeting (NL): ISDC is thinking very hard what to do after INTEGRAL. There are several options. Memo on what needs to be done with j_ima_iros (user defined energy bands, user specified sources, cleaning of the code, source positions, source fluxes). Stéphane Paltani will try to see if a (misalignment) rotation alone can improve the position accuracy. JEM-X representative at ISDC (CAO): IBIS wants that next release is OSA7.0. Software release at the end of May. CAO works on j_cor_position (either fixed or randomized positions). j_ima_iros needs a delivery with user defined sources and three fixed energy bands plus the user specified ones. New parameters: Switch off fixed energy bins or redefine the fixed bins; skip source search. Detailed description of new parameters must be sent to Simona Soldi and Stéphane (as soon as possible). Should we befine a BTI for each beginning of each revolution. We have previously discussed this and concluded that it wat not necessary. IMOD files can be delivered after end of May (must contain OPNC-MOD and EEFF-MOD). /NJW
