Subject: JEM-X Monday Meeting 2006-09-11 Date: Mon, 11 Sep 2006 16:31:28 +0200 (MEST) Participants: SB, CBJ, NL, NJW. JEM-X status (SB, CBJ): Hotspot at X=72, Y=15 provokes some spikes, but limited activity (average count rate is barely changed). Crab calibration rev. 483 (26/9-29/9) (NL): Answer from MOC that our proposed operations are possible. JMX2 is activated one orbit before. Galactic diffuse emission (SB, NJW): Counting rate as function of galactic latitude plots show the presence of the galactic ridge. OSA6 status (NL, NJW): j_src_properties will not be delivered for OSA6 (deadline Sep.15), but j_ima_iros will include a correction map to compensate for missing flux towards the edge of the FOV. In a search for higher sensitivity of j_ima_iros a series of computations with reduced collimator height (this counteracts to some degree the finite detector resolution) has been made and it appears that a reduction (in both ends) of 3 mm is most efficient with the current source detection technique. SB: It would be a cleaner situation if we removed the collimator completely but the BPL array then becomes very large. Comparison of shadowgrams (SB): Checking Sco X-1 shadowgrams to verify the changes of detector response when the pattern is shifted (Sco X-1 changes position in the FOV by a small amount). Data exist where the detector can be analyzed in detail. This can provide information on both detector resolution and the validity of the position correction from the on-ground calibration data. /NJW
