On this page you can see the raw and fitted gain calibration data for the two JEM-X units. Each revolution has its own line on the table, sometimes there are two lines per revolution if the two units are active and behaving differently to each other. IF THE REVOLUTION YOU ARE INTEREST IN HAS A DIFFERENT COLOUR FROM THE REST OF THE TABLE, BE SURE TO START BY TAKING A LOOK AT THE NOTES AVAILABLE IN THE SECOND COLUMN OF THE TABLE. The note links indicate the date on which the notes were last updated.
Our understanding of the behaviour of the units is increasing all the time, and the software to analyse the data is constantly being improved. Also, the amount of data to which we have access for verification of the calibration process increases daily. This means that our assessment of a particular revolution can change, though for the vast majority of revolutions, no problems with the gain calibration have ever been found.
Revolutions with a green background indicate problematic revolutions that need an IC table to perform optimal gain correction. The updated ISDC Instrument Characteristics can be downloaded from OSA download It is recommended that you update your version of the ISDC IC tree before every analysis. After revolution 949 all JEM-X1 and JEM-X2 revolutions require the use of IC tables due to the aging of the instruments. This is due to both the increase temperature dependence of the gain and a growing non-linear gain effect.
Asterisks indicate revolutions where one or other of the instruments has a Bad Time Interval due to some sort of poor instrument configuration. Many of these are short periods during which engineering experiments were conducted on the units to test their behaviour. Science data from periods with BTIs are automatically disregarded by the ISDC analysis software. To see which observational periods are removed from the processed data stream, download the BTI tables used by OSA from the links below:
Because of the increasing gain sensitivity to temperature it is absolutely required that OSA8.0 or later be used to process this data.
If you have any questions about the instruments' behaviour, or the results produced by the automatic analysis DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT THE JEM-X TEAM We can always help you to get the most out of your data and the analysis software.
