Gain Notes for Revolution 340 This is one of the last revolutions to have a pre-switch on with HV set three steps below nominal. The procedure was changed beginning with revolution 343 because gain overshoot and decay at the beginning of each revolution was really only a problem at the beginning of the mission. The large gain increase at the beginning of the revolution is due to the long time available for the plate to `relax' (ion migration) while the unit was switched off during revolution 341. This revolution is very short because the unit was switched off to protect it from the high radiation level, seen here as increased glitch activity on all sources. The unit remained off during revolution 341. Gain smoothing is fine. All data from this revolution should be useable. The Xenon line analysis of the science data shows that the position of the Xe line lies between 29 - 30 keV as it should - even the science windows just after switch on are acceptably close to the ideal value of 29.6 keV. Hence the gain correction of the science data seems to be very good. CAO 7/2/2007
