Also working to verify that energy shift in Xe line is no longer a problem. AI list: NL to make sure that people get things done SB taken over CAO's instrument configuration page as part of his instrument summary page OSA 5.0 to be released today or tomorrow Next SDAST chat 24th August 2005 **** Logging Started : Wed Jun 29 11:00:07 MEST 2005 *** jerome (~jerome@130.226.216.3) has joined channel #jemxadr Good morning Carol Anne - how's it going for you? END > Hi Peter!Okay, thanks - really glad we found out why the rev_2 and rev_1 Bonjour Jérôme! Comment ça va? END Hello Carol Anne and Peter. Ca va bien, merci. END > gain history tables were different. It gives us a real chance of improving > the crab flux curve (or should that be `line'?) END Yes, indeed - though it emphaszies the point I sometimes try to make that (at least for us) the Crab is not a normal source and thus not always the best example. END > My problems lie not in the normalness or otherwise of the Crab itself, > but that certain people, who shall remain nameless, do silly things in > the crab calibration revolutions like long starings with no dithering, > or micro ditherings, or reducing our telemetry by a factor of 5 without *** larsson (~larsson@130.226.216.181) has joined channel #jemxadr > telling us; all of which make these difficult revolutions to process. END Hi. Sorry to be late END. Hi Stefan! *** silvia (~silvia@130.226.216.2) has joined channel #jemxadr > Hi Stefan, you're right on time. How are things in Stockholm? Sunny? END Buenas dias, Silvia! Good morning everyone ! END > Hi Silvia, how are you? END Fine, thanks. And you ? END > Well, the gang's all here, so let's get started. Point one: > SVR - how's that going? Everyone got their contributions in? END I am working on the two figures 2.10 and 2.11 and also on a little chapter on mosaicking with figures. but, as NJW is on holidays, he told me that the relase of I have not. Have had problems to run the full osa5. END > That sounds good: will you be finished by the time NJW gets back from hols the SVR will wait until he is back that is after 18/7. END > What about the rest of you? END I'm just waiting for the draft to do the review. END > I'm afraid I'm way behind: I have to re-deliver j_calib_gain_fitting, and I've sent my figures but should go over the text of chapter 4 again. END > I won't do that until I've run the new version on ALL the available FRSS > data, just to check that we don't have any bad revolutions that are > sending the program haywire. I think this takes priority over SVR. The > other thing I really wanted to do for SVR was to validate the new gian > aging factors and prove that we don't get a gradually rising Xe line, > heading off to 40keV. Again, this is someting that could take a long time. > END > Any comments? END No No > WHat are these problems you've been having getting OSA 5.0 to run, Stefan. Does any of you know what is the most uptodate osa environment at isdc? END > Are they problems that Mr Timbuktu could be expected to have as well? END I have downloaded the most recent binaries and src-tar files in the distribution directory at isdc. The binaries does not run on my Debian linux (same as before) but for the osa 5 src I have not been able to compile yet. I could that with 4.0 and 4.2. END Are you sure these are linyx binaries and not only solaris? END There are 3 binaries (solaris, linux and new linux). END OK > I think you should get on to the support guys at ISDC - it would be nice to > know if this is a widespreas problem. END OK. I will. END > Do we have any other matters arising from the last SDAST meeting? > complaints about the supper menu? END No problems with the supper :-) No complaints Does someone know what is the current status with OSA 5? No problems and no complaints on those topics. END One thing you probably should know (or did I mail that already?) is that Arvind Parmar is looking into allocating some personpower on deeper JEM-X analysis testing. > Can we move on to the AI list? END Release date? etc. END Peter that sounds interesting. END We had brief chat with Niels on the sidelines of the ISWT meeting. Tim Oosterbroek was mentioned as an option, but it isn't clear yet, if it can be done. END To Peter regarding testing: Good! > That would be a big help. END Evidently, I'll try to do my part from here, but if someone could put in half their time in deep exploration of our data and when it gets funny that would surely give us a boost. END > I'm afraid that couldn't be me unless Planck gets cancelled END I repeat: has somebody hear some news from ISDC this week? END No, it shouldn't be you - if you had more time, you could easily fill it up with understanding gain calibration adn other correction details. END Stephane told me yesterday taht they were preparing the OSA 5.0 release. It should be ready in few days. END Thanks Silvia. END Just talked with Bruce: it should be released today or tomorrow. END At last! :) END Be happy we hads the additional time! END It always takes several days between the last delivery and t he release that's bare minimum testing. END > Okay, shall we move onto AI list? END Y > I think that when SVR is out of the way, we really should make and effort > to either close these AIs or declare them obsolete - some of them have > been here for years. Also the list is slowly filling up with AIs not > performed by semi-SDAST people like Soeren and Carl, so perhaps someone > (me? or my scary, bigger sister) should try to prod them into doing some > of these things. The last AI I did was a few weeks ago, when I added > IMOD epochs to my instrument configuration tables. I have now passed these > tables and their updating over to Soeren, since I hadn't managed to update > them in over a year. He says it'll be part of his JEM-X instrument page > but had no firm idea when either that, or the updated configuration > tables would appear. Suggestions for incentives to get this stuff done > are welcome (I don't think Soeren's very frightened of me or my sister). END You should just do as the rich countries cancelling the poors debt: close all the current AI's but be harder for the future. END > Is this a good idea people? How can we be harder for the future? We have > no leverage. END Shouldn't it be Niels who provides the leverage, if needed? END > Okay, that's a good resolution: NL to provide leverage for getting AI list This page _is_ important and if ISDC is not complaining more it's simply because in the past they could rely on me for questions. END > done. Should it be an AI, and what happens when he doesn't do it? END Strike! END > Any more comments on AIs - anyone actually done any AIs? END No AI on me... END N N > I'll reorganise my JEM-X webpage after the things listed above. END > So that just leaves AOB - anyone got AOB? END What about the absences? END Vacancy plans: I am of at least between 20th July and 3rd August plus maybe a few days in the middle of August. END > I'm away for sure 11 July to 24th July. END I am on holiday "since last week" to end of July. Will read mail unfortunatlyy.... END I've not yet planned my holidays. I may take some days in July and some days in August. I'll keep you inform. END My leave is July 4-22, back at work on July 25. I'll be at the IAU Symposium 230 Aug 15-19. END Is someone collecting this? END > So how about our next chat meeting just after 19th August? END > yes, I'm logging everything. END Me too (collecting). END Fine with next chat. END > Say, 24th August? END 24th sounds better for me. END OK 24 is fine. Fine with me and already entered END > So, everyone there's one last AI: AI_2906.1 ALL To have a lovely relaxing > summer, regenerating brain cells and energy reserves, ready to do battle > with the JEM-X software once again. Due date: August 24 2005. > NLs to talk sternly with anyone who doesn't get this one done! Silvia, i am looking at your mosaics. I will send you an email. END > Have a good holiday everyone! END Good summer! END Have a nice holiday everyone ! Carol Anne I hope you and your family will have a lovely time in England ! END Thanks! Have a nice vacation season! END hej, hej ...
