SDAST chat meeting #101: Wednesday 23rd February 2005 Present: Carol Anne Oxborrow, Jerome Chenevez, Peter Kretschmar, Stefan Larsson, Silvia Martinez-Nunez Subjects discussed: Flights to/from Madrid for meeting - Meeting shall be two whole days: 14+15 March - JC won't be coming due to parental leave - SL won't be coming due to teaching commitments, but could participate by phone - CAO will arrive first on Monday evening - Everyone to send CAO suggestions for agenda items - Misalignment matrix coming along slowly but surely - Mosaicking is completed and looks good, especially with IROS images, though can handle non-iros images too - New version of source extraction ready to test in 1-2 weeks - SL has discovered that most rev_2 archive data is not corrected with OSA 4.2 but earlier versions so ALL ANALYSIS SHOULD START AT LEVEL COR NOT AT CAT_I - ISDC should be made aware of this fact during SL's visit as instrument representative - SL closed an AI by writing a SCREW for full collimator modelling to be used ACTION ITEMS: AI050223_1 ALL 2005/03/10 Send CAO emails with agenda items for Madrid OPEN meeting AI050223_2 PK 2005/03/1 Send ALL email with hotel suggestions for meeting OPEN **** Logging Started : Wed Feb 23 10:59:39 MET 2005 > Hi Stefan - we hope this will be a very short meeting because Jerome wants > to go to the Oersted birthday party. END Hi Stefan! Welcome. END Sounds fine to me. *** peter (~pkretsch@crab.unige.ch) has joined channel #jemxadr Even if there is no party here. END *** silvia (~silvia@130.226.216.2) has joined channel #jemxadr Hi there - Silvia should also join us in a few moments ... END Good morning everyone ! END > Hi everyone! Let's get started. Flights to Madrid: Hello Spain! > Maersk has flights at 4pm from Copenhagen arriving at 7.30pm in Madrid, > direct and return flights leaving Madrid at 7.25pm, so it looks like > JC and NJW can arrive on Sunday evening and leave on Tuesday evening, Have you also checked Spanair? I just know they fly from here, but don't know their timetables or prices. END > giving a full two days of meeting. What do the rest of you say to that? > Spaniar times were bad. END !!! Remeber: I am not joining the meeting in Madrid! I will be in parental leave. END And what about SAS ? END > SAS times were not good - you'd have to leave early Tuesday afternoon. END > I will be missing the first day because I can't leave on Sunday unless it's > well into the evening. END > Do the rest of you want a full 2 days? Do we need a full 2 days? Stefan > you've got a long way to come too? END I will not go. Stefan, do you know if you can come? We should also have a 'pancake' as they call the conference phones around here. END Teaching...... END Then we should plan for part of the time being phone conference. END > That's sounds good. Let's assume that NJW does the Sunday-Tuesday thing My teaching is on Tuesday. END > (he's on holiday this week) and make it a full two days. Will you please > all send me agenda suggestions by email? END > Peter, could you circulate an email suggesting hotels? END Sure, will do. I'll ask for some more suggestions besides the one I have staid in. END > Any comments, or can we move on with the agenda items as they're listed? > (I thought getting Madrid cleared up was most important). END N OK OK OK > So, misalignment matrix status: it's coming along slowly. I've got 300++ > SCWs for JEM-X1 and 600++ SCWs for JEM-X2, so it's taking time just getting > everything processed, but no show stoppers. Unfortunately, I've got all > sorts of non-technical things to do here as well, so I'm not spending as > much time on it as I'd hoped. Any questions? END No, good you are doing this! END > Jerome, how about mosaicking status? END It is ready! No (but I agree with Peter) END > Great - in that case you've earned Kransekage and champagne! END > Any comments on mosaicking? END I can say that it has been tested with a set of NJW's basic images and a corresponding Can we try it? > Imaging we'll have to hear about the next time around since NJW's not here. END set of NL's iros images and the results look very good for both but iros are of course the best. END > If there are no more comments, how's source extraction coming along Stefan? > END Work in progress. Should have a testable version available in 1 or 2 weeks. So Jerome, have you delivered your tool formally to ISDC? END While working with it I realized a "problem" with the rev_2 data. The position corrections are (mostly) done with pre OSA4.2 software with the older imod which is not concistent with OSA4.2 source extraction. ONE HAS TO START AT COR LEVEL WHEN USING THATA DATA. END (Default is CAT) END again. > I always start at COR, just to be sure. I hope everyone else is too. END This is a major topic to bring up with ISDC! END Yes. END > Ths original plan was that COR level could change quite rapidly, and so > should always be done anew. END Yes, but many users wanted to skip this step since it seemed to be automatically done anyway. END Stefan, please make sure during your visit that the isssue is fully understood at ISDC, I will Peter. END > Given the way the detectors are changing and aging, I don't think we can especially by Stephane Paltani. Evidently it's no problem to modify our scripts again to starrt at COR by default, but this has several ramifications for public data archives etc. END > assume that COR level is stable/complete, or ever will be. We'll always > be improving it in some way. END > Any more comments? END On the other hand, if we evolve this every few months only, ISDC can probably reprocess JEM-X data rather quickly. They only need to know that it is important. END No more comments from me. END > next: Any additions to the checklist? Any one done any AIs? END Not me - it's been a rather bad week ... END > Yes, Peter, I know the feeling!!!! END I have submitted the SCREW on collimator model AI050209_2. END > Good stuff Stefan! Thisone's closed END > Any more good people out there? END > Any one with AOB to share with the rest of us? Niggling concerns? Software > problems? Stress? END Nothing relevant to this group. Silvia and I will try to discuss a little bit in the following days how the scripts must be updated. END Yes, we will do so after having my Thesis defence presentation nearly ready ... END > If there's no more AOB, we can all go our separate ways. Hope it goes > well with getting your presentation ready Silvia! END Thanks Carol Anne ! Take care and I hope everything is going well with your father ... END Bye everyone ! Chat to all you in a couple of weeks ! END > Thanks! He's stable and waiting for a pacemaker to be fitted. END That sounds better. My best wishes for his health and your nerves! END > We chat again in 2 weeks: Wednesday 9th March. See keep your dance card open! Good ! Take care and I hope you will come to Madrid. END > Bye! END Hej, hej ... *** silvia has left channel #jemxadr : (silvia) OK and bye. END *** Signoff: larsson ()
