This seems a very long way off but there are lots of intervening meetings, workshops, holidays and science festivals Action Items: AI040915_1 PK, SL, NJW, SM 1st Nov. 2004 Make list of plans for real do-able OPEN shared function library, in time for work to be assigned at SDAST meeting in Stockholm. **** Logging Started : Wed Sep 15 10:54:44 MEST 2004 *** peter (~pkretsch@crab.unige.ch) has joined channel #jemxadr Hi Carol Anne! > Hi Peter - how's things? Congratulations on the Villafranca job! What will *** jerome (~jerome@130.226.216.2) has joined channel #jemxadr > Baerbel do? I should imagine there's lots of place would want her. END Hi Peter. I can see you two are in good time! END Thanks! Baerbel will follow a bit later, finishing smoothly in Zuerich and checking her options in Spain. We don't know too well yet, how it all will develop - except for veeerrrrrryyy busy the next months. END *** larsson (~larsson@tenma.dsri.dk) has joined channel #jemxadr > Don't talk to me about very busy - I'm still bogged down in the fusion committee > and the Natural Sciences Festival - it feels like it'll be months before I do > anything scientific again. END > Hi Stefan - it's good to have you here! don't you have lots of AIs to do?? END Silvia may be on her trip to Geneva already and NJW is excused, I think we can start. END > What about Sami? He hasn't said he isn't coming.....but that's not much of an > indicator. END Btw, I did science yesterday - at around 10 PM ... so don't complain too much :-) END > Let's get started with someting that doesn't seem to involve Sami: > Shared software functions. How far have we come? Peter could you give a > quick summary of things done an dthings still to do, and then NJW and SL give > their summaries? END Well - up to now, we had some circulated mails, getting some reasonable discussion started *** smaisala (~smaisala@gemini.astro.helsinki.fi) has joined channel #jemxadr but not much feedback from either side. E.g., it's still on my to-do list to comment on NJW's and NL's code. Hello everybody! END On the other hand I never heard anything detailed about my propositions. So we need to do that next step. END > Hi Sami, we've just started discussing the shared software functions. END I have to take some blame for not responding to Peters suggestions. > Yes, that was a pretty good email exchange you had going there. END If it is some comfort it is at least quite high on my personal AI-list.... (END) That's _some_ comfort :-) How are you doing, you've been rather quiet recently? END > This discussion seems to have been going round in circles for some time - could > we decide on a strategy for the next Stockholm meeting to get this work done > instead of everyone just firing off emails to each other. Remember we've got > something of a deadline now that Peter's leaving. END I am finding it harder and harder to get time for JemX work. Sorry, but a single meeting is also to short. We need some more email discussion - but really as discussion with direct answers to propositions - in order to come up with alternatives which could be decided at a meeting. END My funding for Integral is about to be "phased out"so I have to focus on GLAST more and more.... END I agree with Peter that an email discussion is more constructive. I will try to do a bit more on that. END I'm sorry I've been so quiet lately. All my effort has gone to rebuild ISDC architecture and analyzing data after that huge computer crash. END > It sounds like there's only going to be a handful of us left after the New Year. > JC's possibly going to be leaving us a the beginning of January too....so who's > going to be doing all this stuff? END I will ask the funding agencies about that. END Yes, it does sound rather worrying, as we are NOT in a stable situation. Looks like some hi-level discussions mustnurgently take place. END I have to confess I'm not sure what is my situation at end of this year. END Headlines: SDAST dissolving - no cure found yet! I'll try to continue as much as I can to help in this, but evidently my allocated time will be even more limited than today. END > I think we need a good long chat with Niels Lund. Now how about an AI on the > end-of-pipeline guys to make a proposal list of functions they've got written > and those they'd like to have, and these lists can be compared and discussed > at the next SDAST meeting, and work packages assigned? I suggest that the * oxborrow lists get made after extensive email exchanges between the EOTP guys, so that > we're sure we're talking about realistically attainable goals here and not just > dream tools. END OK OK for me too. OK > I'll say okay on NJW's behalf. END > Okay, next on the agenda: the detector map output proposal. Well, I haven't > written the proposal email yet, so there's not much to discuss, so I suggest > we leave this one. At any rate this will be first available for OSA 5.0, and > the freeze for this is in January, so I think we have some time. Any comments? > END No N n n > Any other business this week? END Not from my side. N n Who is going to join the Workshop at ISDC? END > Not me - I simply have too much of other things to do ! END It seems i will, at least for day 1 and 2. END Stefan and NJW, as far as I know - as teachers. END Isn't it more or less attented especially to people who do not normally have access to ISDC and who has not much knowledge about the OSA environment? END Not really, though one clear goal is to introduce people to OSA. Hmm, you might want to send Niels :-) :-) END I know he is planning to come END > That sounds like a wonderful idea - especially when he has to take over > maintenance of Peter and Stefan and Sami's code! END I was more thinking about the need for me to come... END > Yes, familiarity with ISDC software could be a big bonus in job hunting! END > Okay, one point: has anyone accidently closed any AIs, just like randomly, > while doing something else entirely, perhaps........please ......END > Or something you tricked your children into doing as a school project....? END I would like to tell Peter: our PC on which I use to run Niels' pgm is back again, so I will be able to run a long analysis on archived survey data. END That's good. END OK, anything else? END > ANY AIs COMPLETED????? END N > Last point: our next meeting. In the coming weeks we have: ISDC Consortium No. Hardware changes here, mean my binned spectra attempts are held up. END > Meeting, Danish Natural Sciences Festival (all week), ISDC Analysis Workshop, > then Danish half-term holiday, so this would be the next possible chat > meeting Tuesday 19 October - any comments? END Should work for me. END OK OK Stefan, are you still with us or GLAST over ? :-) END > I know it's a long time to wait till the next meeting, but we're all very > busy, and by then we'll have soimething to discuss, and some AIs closed. Hopefully... > So next meeting: Tuesday 19 October, 11.00, okay? END OK END Y OK > `See' you all then! Have a good a productive few weeks until we chat again. > END Thanks, same to you! Bye Good bye everyone and have a good lunch. END *** Signoff: peter (ircII/tkirc) bye *** jerome has left channel #jemxadr : (Quit)
