END Hej everyone ! END > Hello everyone! We're having bright sunshine here! This must be real summer - > at last. END *** peter (~pkretsch@crab.unige.ch) has joined channel #jemxadr Just come to Spain to have real "hard" summer :-) END Hi everybody - quite a crowd! END Hello, out there, is Stefan on holiday ? END > I think Stefan will be joining us, so we'll wait a few minutes yet. eND Hello from raining Helsinki. END Around here it's beatuiful - but I'm on shuft :-( shift! END > Sorry to hear that Sami! END > Okay, searching my email records, it looks like Stefan hasn't been active the > last couple of weeks so we'll assume he's on holiday. How's it going with > the thesis Silvia? END Do not ask Carol Anne uff .. it going too slowly BUT it will be better soon, once the summer disappears ... END > So first point on the agenda: Analysis anomalies. I hope you've all read the > various anomalies I've posted at > http://www.dsri.dk/~oxborrow/sdast/analysis_anomalies.html > Shall we address them one at a time? END I have just a remark first: The anomalies all concern OSA_3.1. Should we not consider they are not ano, alies anymore? Or are they? END > I think we need to verify that each of these problems has been resolved in > OSA 4.0, but who's to do the checking? Should each of the original anomaly I agree in principle, but am not sure we have done enough checking yet. END > discoverers repeat their analysis with the exact same data using OSA4.0 to > confirm that the results are no longer anomalous? END In general that would be best. But we can close 002 and 003, which we know have been largely resolved with OSA4. END > So we're sure about 002 and 003? If everyone agrees I'll close this. Comments > please. END In the case of anaomalies 004 and 006 I think we should test the new software. For 004 I will ask my colleagues to do the smae kind of analysis we did with OSA 3.0. > Okay Silvia, could you please repeat your analyses for 004 and 006 using OSA > 4.0? END > Thanks, I'll put that in the status report. END > About 007: I've listed it as closed, because as you can see from the attached We will CAO ! END > figure, j_cor_gain now does a very nice smooth fit of the gain history for > this revolution. I have not however, see data that shows that Xe is now in the > correct place throughout the second switch on, which was the original problem. > Jerome, would you like to do this? END About 005: I think Peter promised to rerun the whole set of detector spectra with OSA4. Am I right, Peter? END Yes, CAO. END I did once, but haven't launched that analysis yet. Currrently we have some h/w problems but maybe I manage before the weekend. END Thanks Peter. Actually I do not remember exacrtly what was the request, but maybe you do? END > So that just leaves 001: will you repeat that analysis Silvia? END This problem has been solved with the new software. Just close it. END > So you know that's resolved for sure? I'll close it then. Any more comments on > analysis anomalies? Please keep sending me your results, and I'll either > file them under `Results and Discussion Documents' on the Forum, or open a new > analysis anomaly for any reported problems. Are there any known problems that Yes, it --001 --is solved for sure, it was a bugg in an old j_src_spectra !END > have not yet been reported on the anomalies page? END No other comments from me - for the moment :-) END No comments from me END OK with me. END No more anomalies for the moment ... END > So now we have to get to work with OSA 4.0 and find all the problems with > that: so keep those results flowing! > Next on the agenda: Comments on ADD and SVR (if any) > Any comments on these documents? END I think we should have one figure in the SVR showing the vignetting function. Something like About the SVR: I've taken over again from Peter. Although a version has the one in JEM-X Science Performance Report (Fig. 1). END been released I think we should continue with the updating to have a fresh version within two or three weeks END I agree completely! END > Sounds very good! END > Any more comments on either document. The ADD was released on Jun 25th as Point taken, Jérôme END Btw, Things are a bit erractic here, so if I do not respond on a question, I'm fighting my system again. END > promised - I just didn't get to publicise the fact till July END No comments by my side. The SVR ones I sent to PK and I have not read the new ADD version -- sorry Carol Anne -- no way END > That's okay, Silvia, the ADD update was very brief to say the least. Let's > move swiftly along to the next subject: > Comments on ADD and SVR (if any) > I've made a preliminary list based on discussions in `sunny' Copenhagen: > Rejection criteria and their effect on spectral response (SB, CBJ) Instrument Status (SB) Modelling the Collimator for imaging (NL) Vignetting problem and off axis fluxes (NL, SL, NJW) Fine resolution imaging (NJW) JEMIROS (NL) Mosaicking (JC) Calibration and correction improvements for OSA 4.0 (CAO) Spectral response (NJW) Science results (NL, NJW, SB, PK, SL, SMN, JC) > Other ideas please! END > Sorry, this subject is SDAST meeting agenda, not document comments END > How about ISDC news and views from Peter? END > Or software development at Valencia, by Silvia? END Sure. > Or advanced source extraction and ray tracing by Stefan? END Yes, I would like to hear a little about those ALL files... END No software development from Valencia. Paul will not be able to show any result on JEM-X. He is still fighting with SPI END > Me too! Just what are they going to be used for? Is there a single coherent > view of ALL files at ISDC? END I can say a few words about mosaicking if you like. END I think we definitely need to discuss how we will progress with imaging and mosaics up to OSA5. END > Sorry people, it looks like my list of suggestions hasn't been passed along > to Jerome, and probably not to you other either, so here it is again: > Rejection criteria and their effect on spectral response (SB, CBJ) > Instrument Status (SB) > Modelling the Collimator for imaging (NL) > Vignetting problem and off axis fluxes (NL, SL, NJW) > Fine resolution imaging (NJW) > JEMIROS (NL) > Mosaicking (JC) > Calibration and correction improvements for OSA 4.0 (CAO) > Spectral response (NJW) > Science results (NL, NJW, SB, PK, SL, SMN, JC) > Sorry about that: are there other suggestions now? END > Also Silvia should be included on the list of science contributers END I will try to do my best ... but take into account that next week I will be on holidays ... END In general this looks good. Should we have a specific planning session of work up to OSA5 or will we do that piece by piece? END There is a small issue that I think it should discuss in the meeting It is a problem raised by Ada. Our spectra gives us count rate values for each PHA channel, even the spectral resolution is lower. This issue has been already discussed with Stefan but not yet clarified. END > Perhaps we could ask him specifically to include a discussion of this in > his source extraction presentation, or is this a wider issue that should be Note: it's in principle OK to oversample, but it's ture we had some discussions on fitting and fit statistics - reminds me that I had planned to do some homework ... END > addressed by PK, NJW, SL etc. END I think it could be discuss during Stefan presentation END > Okay, I'll add that into the description of his presentation and let him know > what we expect of him. END > Do we need to discuss documentation at all? END > Do we need to discuss imaging and source extraction in extra sessions, or were > most of these prpoblems resolved last time? > Do we need to discuss any of the following: help desk/user support; ISDC rotation; Let me try to answer item by item: > instrument representative duties; shared software; delivering jemx.h in an > individual package; - Documentation: contents of SVR (briefly) Yes, I think we could have a short discussion about support. ISDC rotation issue has been discussed last time. END - image/extraction: yes there is quite a bit to discuss. - support: yes, has to be discussed. - shared software: yes, again. END > I'd also like to see some hard results on imaging/source finding, with and > without Sami's background models. I think this is an important subject since > so much effort has gone into it. END > Any more comments? END Will we have time for all that? :-) END No comments END No. END > We'll have more than enough if we forego supper on Monday evening! END Perhaps we should have a prioritized agenda END > Everyone who's staying a little longer in Copenhagen is invited to supper at My flight back is on Wednesday morning, so I have time on Tuesday :-) END > my place on Wednesday evening. END That sounds good Peter ! Time for discussions on the Thesis just a few minutes, hours :-) I am leaving on Thursday END Hmmm, bad timing :-) :-) I meant Carol Anne's offer. END > Okay last agenda item today > AI list (briefly!) > Everyone's favourite! > So please confess to your AI over activity sins. Peter have you done anything > on the list? END No. > Jerome and NJW, any work don on the AIs? END Push that to after our meeting - maybe that will give some impetus. END Perhaps the two last ones can be removed, I'm working on the list of tests END Else you can add 2 months END > I see that AI28_ 2 is very short so I'll probably do that this afternoon. END > I'll tidy up the list according to NJW and PK's suggestions. END > So that just leaves us with: AOB. So any other people with any other business? No no Just one thing ! On Wednesday 11th I will like to discuss with NJW the IMOD table I asked long time ago let's do that, Silvia END And remember from tomorrow to Sunday 8th I will be on holidays ! See you in Kobenhavn ! END Happy Holiday Silvia! END To Peter I will send you an email late today ! END Thanks Sami ! Time for lunch !Hej, hej END OK, enjoy your holidays! END I think you need a "ø" Silvia :-) Anyway, good holidays. END Spanish keyword ... end *** silvia has left channel #jemxadr : (silvia) > Have a happy, sunny weekend everyone!
