I've had some nice views of Venus by (protected) eye and scopes today, thanks END Bonjour les dames! *** larsson (~larsson@tenma.dsri.dk) has joined channel #jemxadr > Yes, we've been enjoying the historic event too. END Hi, sorry to be a bit late. END Having our two favorite female SDAST collaborators joining us is always nice! :-) END Talking about meee?? END > Since when are you female? Is this something we should know about? END I just got nervous. Thaanks. END Sorry Stefan, you entered just after Silvia and Carol Anne. END > Hi Silvia, Hi Stefan, Hi Peter1 Has anyone any idea if Sami's joining us today? ENd Hi everyone ! > We'll wait a couple of minutes for Sami. END May I use this pause to ask about your vacancy period Peter? Are you at ISDC in August? END I will mostly be there, except for a family reunion one weekend and probably an OMC meeting. And the SDAST meeting :-) END > I don't think we can really wait any longer for Sami, so let's move on to > the AI list. Has everyone read through the list I attached yesterday? Y > Has anyone got any completed AIs to confess? Ongoing? Cancelled? Obsoleted? END *** smaisala (~smaisala@gemini.astro.helsinki.fi) has joined channel #jemxadr Hi there!. Sorry I'm late. Traffic problems. END Unfortunately, no. AI_MMM_3 is still open ... END Are you coming by car, Sami? END AI28_4, AI28_5, AI28_6 are being done right now, so you can remove those. No, by tram, but there were accident and therefore no trams. AI26.9 must remain open; I've thought about it and it is not as straightforward > Thanks njw! That's the kind of input I like END as I originally thought. END > My plans for this month are pretty straightforward: Work on Planck, until Give me a month more on the rest of my actions END > Fri. 19th June, then spend the following week on JEM-X including the ADD > updates, and be finished with AIs and updates Fri. 25th and go on holiday > Sat. 26th June. Sorry that first date should be friday 18th June. So I'll > put 25/6/04 as the new due dates for all my AIs if that's okay with the > rest of you. END OK > One month more added to NJW's actions. END > What about the rest of you SL, SM, PK????? END I have a few AIs on my shoulders but right now I need to finnish a verification of my lates source extraction and get that into OSA4. END For AI_MMM_3 I'm tied to my dear collaborators :-) END I hope we can talk about that next week END I confess... Yes, lets try next week. END > Next week? During the chat or is there a face-to-face I'm unaware of here? END My visit at ISDC END > Lucky you NJW > !!!! end Quite so END > Any more comments on AIs? END N N N N N > Okay, let's press on to: ADD updates. > Like I said, I'll be working on this between June 21 and 25th. It will be > finished and distributed on the friday, come what may. I REALLY need to be > able to work on your files (completeness and consistency checks, indexing, > cross-referencing etc. etc.) the entire week, so PLEASE, have all your updates > in the CVS repository by 9.00 Monday 21st June. That includes not just individual > component descriptions but also all the other things you are each responsible > for: background handling descriptions, IMOD descriptions etc. etc. > I will only have a little time to check that you've done the updates, but > past experience has shown that it's a rare component description that actually > fits with the latest delivery, so please take some trouble to do these things > right the first time. That's my rant. Any comments? END No, I'll do what I can END I have noted it all down Madam. END Read you loud and clear Ma'm! END It's on my list for next Tu/Wed, let's see if I manage. END Sideline remark: possibly we should all exchange our summer holiday/absence plans for the next 2-3 months so there are no bad suprises END > Good idea. I'm away from the institute from 26th June until 18th July. So I'll > be back again on Monday 19th July. What about the rest of you? END About the same for me June 24 - July 18 END My dates are: 7/7 - 27/7. I let you guess where I will be :) END I'm on a trip to Garching & Munich June 26-July 2 and probably absent the week of July 12 to 17. END No planned summer holidays until the Thesis is finished END I will be away for most of July. END To Jerome: at the ISDC happily combining holidays in summerly Switzerland with light project duties :-) END I possibly have dates 14th -29th, so I have to do all my updates at this week. END I take note Peter. END > I'll summarise all those dates in the chat summary so that we've all got a > list. END > Okay, next agenda item: The Science Validation Report > presumably you've got full control of this NJW? END The latest version can be gotten from the DSRI home page -> astrophysics -> JEMX -> documents and then under SDAST documents (version 3.0 from Dec 5, 2003) I would like: Sami to look at the background stuff and send me updated figures (if better now) Stefan to look at the spectral/lightcurve extraction - you must have some more material now > And if those background figures are WORSE than before, what then? END in particular for OSA4 Peter to have a look at source position information and ... Yes NJ, You will hear from me. END Naturally any other constructive comments are more than welcome. Jérôme is already working hard. > You just want the glitch smoothing and other interesting gain smoothing figures > from me? When? END All this needs to be finished before my holiday that starts June 24. Thanks. END To CAO: Yes, thank you. In a week - is that possible ? END > I'll put an AI on all of us to deliver our respective SVR contributions by > say June 18th? END To NJW, OK - will be done. I'll also check out some spectral questions again. END Yes, this time we will spend more text on the shortcomings of the ISSW, so off-axis angle where spectral extraction breaks down for example should be given END > Any more comments on SRV? END N N N N N > So next on the agenda: OSA 4.0 status. How's it going Peter, are we missing > any new components still? END No. We're now in the debugging phase. Stefan is working to fix his spectral extarction for larger angles and I've just fixed a bug in my scripts. Several people are starting tests with our software, the documentation is also to be updated until next week or so. END How about the testing strategy we agreed on at DSRI? END One missing question before: What did we say about when the SciVal report is finished? It must be before your holidays, NJW, right? Right June 24 END Bruce has set up a quasi OSA4 environment so it should be possible to start testing now (?) END I have already used OSA4 from Peter's jemx-int/sw_rep environment but for random observations (old GX5-1, new GPS, etc.), not for a decided list of ScWs. To NJW, yes - using /isdc/integration/osa_int/current is probably the bestt option right now END. Anyway, the results I got seem to be OK and the scripts ran as expected. END > Well that's very good news! any more comments on OSA 4.0 status? END N N Well, I am waiting for an answer aboiyt this tetsing startegy... Is it still actual? END I will send an e-mail this afternoon compring a Crab spectrum obtained with 3.5.1 and 4.0.0 using the old and new rmf. END sorry compring = comparing END n more comments from Stockholm. END OK, let's try to get some order again: Jérôme's question is still open: I believe that the testing strategy is still our goal. For the SciVal, however, only Is the testing strategy from our meeting still valid? > If we're going to go ahead with this strategy we have to assemble some tough Sorry, I have to leave to other meeting. If there is something important, would you send me an email. Cheers, Sami END > test cases: sources in the presence of a very strong source, fields with only a limited part can be included. I'll try to come up with a very basic proposal. END > weak sources etc. etc. Have we got such a list of test science windows, and > who will assemble on e if we haven't? END I'll assemble one - which should not prevent anyone from giving good advice END > So if NJW assembles the test sci.win. list, who will do testing? I would > certainly be prepared to make gain smoothing curves for the corresponding > revolutions, just to prove that j_cor_gain can tackle these. What about the > full scientific treatmment? END I have given NJW results from Crab spectra obtained with j_src_spectra-4.0.0 Is that this kind of things we need to do )again?) ? END There will be no full scientific treatment - only well explained examples END To Jerome: No, figures don't have to be that new - those exaples are fine END > Okay, so for starters that's an AI on NJW to assemble a list of test SCWs. When > should that due date be NJW? END Tomorrow END Is everyone aware about what he/she has to test, what to run? END Probably not - I'll hand out some suggestions END > Excellent, NJW. END We have some input from the last hours meeting at DSRI, I guess. END Y > Well that sounds very good. Any more comments? END N N N N n > Okay, last on the agenda: AOB > I think it worth mentioning that it looks like Soeren will be taking over > j_cor_gain from me - I don't have time for 90% JEM-X and 40% Planck, so some > JEM-X work has to go. I've discussed this with NJW, NL and SB, and it looks > like SB will be working on this component in the future. END OK, I hope someone gives him an introduction to delivering items and the like ... END > We can read manuals like the rest of us! END > Sorry we= he END > so any other AOB? END N n N When and where is going to be the next SDAST Meeting ? END To CAO, I'm serious - this is much easier if explained. END > Next face-to-face meeting is set for August 9th and 10th at DSRI. END Mange tak Carol Anne -- END > Selv tak, Silvia END Time for lunch "see you soon" END > We'll chat again soon - have a good lunch everyone!
