Hej Niels Jørgen! END > I'm pretty much the same as I was when you saw me this morning NJW - how about Silvia, thanks for the hint on SPE selection. It worked! END > you? END Hej all ! Fine, thanks END You are welcome, NKW ! END NKW = Niels Joergen ! END *** larsson (~larsson@tenma.dsri.dk) has joined channel #jemxadr Hi there! END > Just for the record, I AM logging this meeting for posterity - I forgot last > week, being so busy delivering j_cor_gain at the same time. Hi Stefan! Hi CA. > Does anyone know if Peter got back to ISDC after his trip? END *** smaisala (~smaisala@gemini.astro.helsinki.fi) has joined channel #jemxadr NO Where is Peter ? I have not recevived any email from him this week ! END Dont know, but I have not got any emails from him so probably not..... END No, I've heard rumours that he was expected at ISDC today, but I haven't got any mail from him END Yeah, That is quite unusal! END > yes, he's been suspiciously (not to say, delightfully) quiet this week...END > Hi Sami! > But for Peter the gang's all here - shall we assume he's not joining us > today? END Y I propose we start with pt. 5 in the agenda... :-) END I am calling Peter ! His ofice phone is busy ! I will try in a few minutes again ! END Funny point Carol Anne ! END Probably because I've just tried to call Peter, Silvia END > Point 5 could be cleared up while we wait for PK: so you all read that far Yes, that's why ! END Peter is not in his office ! END > in my email? I've just sent you all an email with the latest agenda for > the meeting in valencia: it's got one addition, on the morning of the second > day NJW thinks we should all discuss a configuration status file/document and > what parameters should be included in it (and I agree with him). END > Since Peter's obviously otherwise engaged, let's start with point one: > ISSW status. > I'll kick off: I've delivered j_cor_gain with all the spatial gain working > properly. Unfortunately, you absolutely have to have a recent version of SPAG-MOD > with all the new keywords to get this to work. The initial results look good. > I've also delivered the new j_dead_time_calc with the RATE_COR that doesn't > include grey filter effects. DEAD_EFF still covers all the effects of read-in > dead time, grey filter loss and buffer loss. For anyone wanting to do a > complete flux or countrate correction in one step, multiply your source flux > (or whatever) by 1/(1-DEAD_EFF) for the relevant time, and you'll have One question: What are the all keywords to use new j_cor_gain and where I can found the latest SPAG-MOD? > corrected for all three effects in one, without ever having to look at > INST-STA. > The new keywords tell the program what the ADC-channel position of the Xe > fluoresence line was at a particular time and what the corresponding > calibration spectra peak positions were. There are also four new keywords To Sami: jmxi_imod_grp_0024.fits thru jmxi_imod_grp_0028.fits have these > indicating which anodes should be used to make an average time correction to new keywords, ISDC ic-tree 4.37 END > the gain before multiplying with the SPAG factor. You'll hear more about this > at the meeting. END If you need a private copy you can get one from my ISDC account: /home/isdc_guest/westerga/jemx/ic_files/imod_grp END Thank you for this information. END > I'm currently working on a version of j_prp_verify that writes out the One question: Will all these latests updates be included in the OSA release ? END Yes END Perfect ! END > histogram of event populations per RAWX value for dead anode checking, but the > sCREW on that one isn't even accepted yet, and I think I'll have to do some > negotiations at ISDC to get the change cleared. Apart from that there's a > new j_cor_position on the horizon that won't be included in OSA, that will > flag events from dead anodes and near calibration spectra overspill sites. > Any questions about these components? You'll get more details next week. END N Sorry for a silly question, but is it on purpose that RATE_COR does not include grey filter effects? > The reason I had to change back to a RATE_COR without grey filter effects, is ls > that that's how Peter and Stefan said they wanted it last week. But as I say Sorry! Wrong window :) END *** peter (~pkretsch@isdcul19.unige.ch) has joined channel #jemxadr > you can get all the full effects by using DEAD_EFF instead of RATE_COR, as > I said above. END Look who popped up! Hi Peter! Hola Peter ! END Hi, sorry I'm late - several problems of JEM-X analysis fell in my lap today - usually the wrong combination of ISSW and IC files and I forgot to look at the time. END > Welcome back, stranger! END Salut Peter! > You're just in time to hear NJW's status for imaging ISSW, Peter. So NJW, I also have the next meeting at 14:00 - OSA release. > how's it going? END j_ima_shadowgram has been adapted to new RATE_COR, j_ima_basic_recon will need a post-OSA-release brush-up, j_ima_src_find still has a problem with catalog sources on top of found sources, j_ima_cor_intensity seems OK. END That was the short version END > Thanks, NJW. Any questions anyone? END N N > N N N > Okay, Sami, background handling - your status please. END Status is normal as ususal. I'm just trying to run analysis with new j_gain_cor version, but as above you said I need these few new keywords to set before I can have reasonable results. > You don't have to set the value of the keywords Sami - the program reads them > automatically from the SPAG-MOD header. END You need the correc IMOD files. END I used ic_tree 4.37 found from ISDC. Is that newest one? Yes and that should have those keywords. END Ok I had run rev 0024 and I found quite strange results conserning spectral shapes - as usual. > Rev 0024 is quite a long way back - we've changed quite a few things on the Interrupt - question to NJW: Analyzing the Crab for revol. 39 with the latest ISSW, we get a flux of ~ 40 cps, shouldn't that be ~ 100? END The gain is now much better on those two anode parts which were our problem, but the central parts seems to be worse? > isntrument - perhaps you should try something later with the new discriminator > setting since this will affect the background quite a lot, as will the new > high-energy cut off - we can see the effect of the latter quite clearly in > the data. END > NJW, when was the last time the hardware guys made a new patch to the onboard > software? END Yes, I can see the point but unfortunately it is the only 'useful' blank field data. END To Peter on Crab countrate: JMX1 or JMX2 ? END To Carol Anne on last patch: rejection criteria changed 2003-02-25 END JMX2 And actually rev 39 was before that patch. END That could easily explain a different rate, right? END To Sami: about useful blank data, have you tried the Crab calib. with 10 degrees offset? I use it, it is very useful! END To Jerome. Thanks, for the tip. I'll try that. END To Peter: just checked with Carl: Yes, the JMX2 countrate for the Crab on-axis > Yess I think that a recent blank Crab field will be a lot more useful. END should be just a little less than 100 cts/s (full detector, no radiusLimit) > Any more on background status? END for JMX1 it was somewhat lower END I agree for the background fields. END To NJW/ Jerome: Would you send me an email where is a list of the best scws of that crab data. END I am sorry I have not the ScWs, but I have the dates. Is that OK? END Yes. END To Peter and Niels Joergen: in order to get a good analysis of data of rev. 39, which should ic_tree version be used ? END Well I send it to you. END Look at the pointing files in /r2/jemx/pointings to convert dates to SWIDs END > Look in /isdc/pvphase/nrt/ops_1/idx/scw/raw or ../prp for GNRL-SCWG-GRP-IDX > to find the SCW you need. END To Silvia: IC 4.37 should cover all times END The IC tree should always be the latest - it is supposed to cover all time intervals. Thanks ! END But remember that we do not have response files for the pre-change yet. END > Can we move on to binning status now - how's it going Peter? END I'm working on updating the response files i.e. analyzing the Crab spectra to see what changes are required END No news for binning status - it works with a minor caveat on GTI handling. I also won't have more to say at Valencia. END > Any questions on binning anyone? END N n Btw, Silvia - we will have a projector, right? I plan to bring a CD with a presentation, if I manage. END > N N N N > Okay, next on the agenda: source extraction - how's that going Stefan? END Yes, we will ! END I have made new deliveries of j_src_lc and j_src_spectra the last few weeks. It includes e.g. the missalignment correction. > That's good news Stefan. END At the moment I am trying to identify an error in flux estimates which shows up for weak sources. I'll let you know next week how that proceeds. END > Any questions on source extraction anyone? END > n Oh ... that's means that that flux values for 2030 are not good, are they ? END N Well, there is a systematic error. I can tell you what it is in a particular case but I can not take it away yet (at least not all of it.) END Ok, I hope we have time next week to discuss about this systematic error END > Any more on source extraction? END N No, the rest is for next week. END > N > Lets move on to scripts: the short version, Peter and Silvia. END Nothing new to report on the scripts. The latest version delivered two weeks ago (v 3.3.1), it is working nicely under OSA integration. None SPR and SCREWS have been found (yet). Any questions ? END Stefan, could you send Masha and me a short note on what the problem for weak sources is? END The scripts work fine. END Stefan: send me also the short note , thanks ! END > Hurray for scripts.......I'm very glad something works fine! Next on the > agenda: any changes to the draft o the agenda for the meeting next week: > I've just sent you all the latest version with NJW's addition. I've also OK Peter, Silvia. END > noticed that the end time for my ICAL presentation should be 17.55, not 18.55. > Other comments? END Sorry, gott run - no more commentson agenda. END > Bye Peter, have another good meeting. END Have a nice weekend in Barcelona Peter - See you on monday ! END No comments on agenda ... END Same from me. END No > Okay, could we move on then: NJW what's this about a Science Performance/Verification > report? What is is and what do you need from us, and when? END I have distributed a mail from Isabelle on this; actually Peter is in a better position to explain what is wanted from us. In any case we cannot make it this week, so I think we should discuss it at the SDAST meeting END > So that's an addition to the agenda? END Yes, sorry I did not think of it 5 minutes ago END > Thanks for the eamil and attachments Sami - I'll take a good look at them > after the meeting. I'll add the SVPR, or whatever it's called to the agenda. > Next on the agenda: AI list. Shall we skip that till next week? END Yes, please END Yes, please END > Okay, point 5: does anyone seriously want to volunteer for this? END Nooooooo !!!! END > N At least those who proposed it?! Shall we say the beach in Spain? > If it's not too chilly....... Stefan, Are you travelling to Alicante ? END > That leaves us with AOB - AOB anyone? END N N Sami and Silvia, have you anything to contribute with for the minutes Silvia: Yes. END of the last consortium meeting in CPH? END What time do you arrive to Alicante ? END I will arrive about 10.40. END Sorry Jerome ! The presentation is in my boss lpatop, and last week I was on holidays and this week he is missing ! May be, I will manage to send to you next week ! END In the morning ! > So there's time for you to pose on the beach then? END OK, silvia. Sami? Niels Jørgen? END Yes, in the morning! (Direct flight). But I can take a train. END I'll do that immediately END I'll see to it END I do not know yet if this weekend I will go home. If yes, may be, i can pick you ! I will send you an email tomorrow ! END What time do all of you arrive to Valencia on Sunday ? END I'll be there at 19:30 END The "Danish" team arrives at 19:30 END My mobil phone is +34/653569444. If you need any help, please call me ! END > Thanks Silvia - we'll try to bother you only for real emergencies. END Ok, the chat is over ! I think ! See you all of you next monday ! Have a nice trip to Alicante/Valencia ! END Silvia, can you guarantee that we will have good weather in Valencia? END > Have a good weekend, and see you all for real on Monday! END No, really ! I am sorry ! Good weekend everyone ! Bye ! END OK Bye, bye END > Goodbye. END
