Date: Tue, 8 Jun 2004 16:00:16 +0200 (MEST) Subject: For SVR Dear NJW, here are some figures you can use in the SVR. I'm sending you a selection so that you can use the ones you think best illustrate the superiority of the new software. In all figures, horizontal bars, where they occur indicate 10 times the revolution number. All anodes are numbered from 1. Only one or two anodes are shown in each figure. Other anodes look just the same, with the exception of JEM-X2 anode 4 early in the mission when it went completely wild, though it has settled down now. jemx1.gain23.revs9_13.ps: Shows the measured and fitted peak channels for anodes 2 (Cd, black/red) and 3 (Fe, blue/green) of JEM-X1 during revs 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13. Firstly see that fits to the two different sorts of sources mirror each other quite nicely. Secondly, that revs 9 and 12 both have an emergency switch off/on that is also well fitted; and thirdly, the lack of any data from the partial-switch-on in revs 9, 10 and 13 doesn't cause any problems to the program, it just skips over doing that little linear fit that most of the other revolutions have. This behaviour is typical of the early mission for both instruments, when there was a strong decay in gain immediately after switch on. jemx2.gain.revs123_124.ps: Shows smoothed and fitted peak channel values for JEM-X2 anode 3 for revolutions 123 and 124. This shows the typical behaviour later in the mission for JEM-X2 when there was no longer any discernible gain decay after switch on. The figure also shows one emergency switch on/off in this regime, also fitted nicely by the program, as well as the clear increase in frequency and strength of glitches. jemx2.gain.rev37_39.ps: this figure shows typical early mission behaviour on anode 3 of JEM-X2, nice strong decays. jemx2.gain3.rev87_90.ps: Gain for JEM-X anode 3 during eclipse season where gain decays upward as instrument warms up after eclipse: nicely fitted by program too! Aslo shows to emergency switch off/ons in revs 89 and 90 and strong glitches in rev. 88. jmx2.glitch60.anodes34.ps: Measured and fitted peak channels for JEM-X2 anodes 3 and 4 during revolution 60. Shows how the strong glitch on anode 3 is largely smoothed out, though the curve does drop somewhat in comparison to the fitted curve for anode 4 without a glitch. If you need more information than this let me know. Best wishes, Carol Anne .DANISH.SPACE.RESEARCH.INSTITUTE.DANISH.SPACE.RESEARCH.INSTITUTE.DANISH.
